As a part of the MSNG2026 Adıyaman Conference, we are pleased to organize a special visit to Nemrut Mountain on 4 September 2026 (Friday).
📍 The Itinerary
🦅 Karakus Tumulus: The Royal Greeting (02:00 PM – 02:45 PM)
Begin your journey at this sacred burial site dedicated to the royal women of the Commagene Kingdom.
Highlights: Admire the iconic limestone columns topped with eagle and bull statues, standing as silent guardians of history for over 2,000 years.
🌉 Cendere Bridge: A Roman Engineering Marvel (03:00 PM – 03:45 PM)
Cross one of the world's oldest functional bridges, built by the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus.
Pro Tip: Take a moment to feel the breeze from the Cendere Creek below. This spot offers some of the most scenic photography opportunities in the region.
👑 Arsemia & The Old Castle: Echoes of Kings (04:00 PM – 05:15 PM)
Explore the summer capital of Commagene. You will witness the magnificent relief of King Antiochos shaking hands with Hercules, symbolizing the bridge between mortals and gods.
Note: Keep an eye out for the longest Greek inscription in Anatolia carved into the living rock.
🏔️ The Summit: Sunset at Mount Nemrut (05:45 PM – 07:30 PM)
The climax of the tour. After a short, scenic hike to the summit (2,150 meters), you will find yourself among the massive stone heads of gods and kings.
East Terrace: Explore the colossal statues and altars in the soft afternoon light.
West Terrace: Find your spot for the world-famous sunset. Watch as the limestone giants turn deep shades of orange and gold as the sun dips below the Anatolian horizon.

🧥 The "Nemrut Chill"
Even in the height of summer, the summit becomes piercingly cold the moment the sun sets. Bringing a windbreaker or a warm jacket is not just a suggestion—it’s a necessity.
👟 Footwear
Wear sturdy walking shoes or sneakers. The path to the summit involves a 20-minute uphill walk on stone steps.
🎫 Museum Pass
Ensure you have your "Museum Pass Türkiye" or local tickets ready at the National Park entrance.
🥤 Refreshments
Take a bottle of water and some snacks with you for the walk.
This cultural visit is kindly organized and hosted by Adıyaman Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism (Adıyaman İl Kültür ve Turizm Müdürlüğü).
